For a resident and her family, the Charter shows up in four practical ways:
Commitment to Standards
EverHaven House agrees to meet the Vanderburgh Foundation's operating standards. Its policies and resident agreements come from a document library aligned to NARR standards.
Training & Resources
The people who lead daily life in the house can use VSL's House Mentor training, which covers house culture, accountability and leadership.
A Community of Operators
EverHaven House is one of more than 110 VSL members nationwide. Members share standards and referrals, and they have people to call the first time something new comes up.
Ongoing Accountability
Resident files, compliance records and accounting run on VSL systems, with recordkeeping aligned to NARR 3.0 standards.
Chartered Operators meet the standards required to earn a Charter, which is why treatment centers, clinicians and recovery professionals refer people to VSL homes. Day to day, it works like this:
1. Commitment to Operating Standards
EverHaven House operates under the Vanderburgh Foundation's standards, using standardized resident agreements and house policies.
2. Help Reaching the House
VSL's intake call center answers calls for Chartered Operators, fields questions about the home and points applicants to the right application.
3. A Local Operator in Charge
EverHaven House's operator runs the house and is responsible for it. The standards that operator agreed to come from the Vanderburgh Foundation.

If EverHaven House is full or is not the right fit, the Sober House Directory list of North Carolina recovery homes shows other options across the state. People planning to open a recovery home can browse sober houses for lease through Vanderburgh Communities.
